Privacy policy.

Punderful is developed by 4:30 Limited, a company registered in England and Wales. This policy explains how we handle your data when you use the Punderful app.

Data we collect

• Anonymous device identifier — generated on first launch, used to save your game progress. Not linked to your name or email.
• Sign-in identifier (optional) — if you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, we store the resulting account identifier to link your progress across devices. Signing in is optional; the app is fully usable without it.
• Puns you submit — stored to enable community voting. Puns are associated with your anonymous ID, not your name.
• Votes you cast — stored to build the Hall of Fame and prevent duplicate voting.
• Your score history — stored to track your progress across rounds.
• Push notification token — if you grant notification permission, used to tell you how your puns ranked. You can revoke this any time in your device settings.
• Approximate time zone — used to deliver the daily round and rank notifications at sensible local times.
• Email address — only if you sign up for launch notifications on our website. Not shared with third parties.

Advertising

Free users see adverts served by Google AdMob. Ad networks may use device identifiers for ad personalisation, subject to your consent — via the App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS, or Google's consent options on Android. If you decline, you will still see adverts, but they will not be personalised. Subscribers see no adverts.

Subscriptions

Subscriptions are sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play and processed through RevenueCat, which records your anonymous app user ID and subscription status so we can unlock premium features. We do not store payment details — those are handled entirely by Apple or Google, whose own privacy policies govern your payment data.

How your data is processed

Game data is stored using Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication, Cloud Functions). Puns you submit are scored by an automated large language model via Anthropic's API. We do not send your name, email, or any directly identifying information to these scoring requests.

Data sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties except the service providers described above (Apple, Google, Firebase, RevenueCat, Anthropic, and our ad network), each acting on our behalf to run the app. Anonymised, aggregated usage data may be used to improve the game.

Data retention

Your anonymous game data is retained while you have the app installed and for 12 months after your last activity. Email addresses collected for launch notifications are deleted on request.

Children

Punderful is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time — see Delete your account. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.
